Hi, I'm Bryce.

I'm a software developer with a focus on societal good and visualization.

Experienced in full stack web development, app development, and mathematical visualization. I graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During this time I was a tech lead at BUILD UMass, a pro-bono tech consulting organization ran by students. Previously worked for Epic Systems, improving home care clincian workflows on both laptops and mobile devices. Outside of my professional life you can find me rock climbing, slacklining, hiking, and picking up a new hobby or skill.

Projects

Nadine El Nesr

Commissioned work for a local artist who could not afford to make her own website. The website features her fine art, fashion, and experimental projects. The website is designed to have mobile-friendly navigation, robust animations, and self-populating images. I built it with React, Bootstrap, and Firebase.

Student Bridges

Collaborated in a six-person team to develop a website for the UMass Amherst organization Student Bridges, which provides easier college access for underrepresented students. The website allows these students to access Student Bridges contact information, calendars, and workshop details much easier than before and will hopefully give this organization more outreach. We built this website with Bootstrap, Express, NodeJS, and Firebase.

MASKerAID

In the Johns Hopkins MedHack 2020 hackathon, I collaborated with 3 other students to develop MASKerAID. This device would communicate with your phone and display the temperature and humidity in a mask, and alert you if the filter needs to be replaced or if the air quality is poor. Out of 700 teams competing we placed 3rd place in the pandemic hack category. The companion app was built with React Native, and the insert was prototyped with Arduino.

Falling, Changing

An interactive simulation of falling leaves with varying types of wind. Uses matter.js physics engine and adjustable inputs to inspire the user to create their own meaning out of the visuals.

I Love Hue Remake

Remake of the "I Love Hue" app. Puzzle game that rearranges blocks of a gradient and tasks the user to put the gradient back into order. Randomized tile and color gradient selection.

Flocking Simulation

A flocking simulation based on Craig Reynolds "Boids" engine. On top of this engine, each bird has a true to life field of view resulting in some natural 'V' patterns. Users can also interact with the birds themselves.

Perlin Noise Blob

A visualization of Perlin noise. Spoke heights are generated using Perlin noise to create a the different shapes. Try moving your mouse around and interacting with the controls.

Pi Collisions

Pi calculator that counts the collisions of two boxes. Uses a simple physics engine based on elastic collision velocity equations. The digits of Pi are approximated.

Recaman's Sequence

A visualization of Recaman's sequence. This sequence jumps forward by n at every step, unless it can jump backwards to a positive integer not in the sequence.
